GRANTS: OJJDP GRANTS
In 1998, the U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) awarded Delaware a $359,208 federal grant to combat the problem of underage drinking. The Office of Highway Safety was chosen to administer the OJJDP monies.
During the first year of this program, OHS distributed the funds to approximately 10 sub-grantee agencies with an interest in alcohol awareness and prevention programs. The money was used to expand the Cops In Shops program statewide, provide training for alcohol servers/sellers, train teens to educate other youth about the dangers of alcohol, and develop a public awareness campaign in area high schools.
The OJJDP Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws program is now entering its fourth year in Delaware. Read on for information on how you can get involved in keeping our youth alchohol free!
