Buckle Up America Week is a national campaign to increase the correct and consistent use of seatbelts and child restraint seats.  Here, an Air Bag and Safety Belt Campaign banner hangs from a fence outside a local elementary school. 

As part of Buckle Up America (BUA) Week activities, the Office of Highway Safety funds enforcement activities by state and local police agencies.  Here an officer conducts an observational seatbelt survey in Dover.

During BUA Week, Dover Police and Delaware State Police Troop 3 conducted a joint child restraint checkpoint on College Road in Dover. 

Traffic cones mark a safe area for officer to stand while the checkpoint is ongoing.

Dover P.D. officer Chris White (in plainclothes) makes sure that the driver of this vehicle is buckled up.  During child restraint checkpoints, seatbelt use by motorists is also emphasized. 

Here a Dover officer and State Trooper work together, passing out safety information, to educate the occupants of this car about the importance of seatbelt use.
